What sad news the tatting world received to-day. The passing of GINA the Tatting Goddess. Over the last couple of years I have been following Gina's blog, oh what an inspiration to many people. She made lots of old patterns easier to follow. She will be sadly missed my the world of tatting.

Sorry not been here for a while.I'm working on two large project's at present. One I mentioned before the other is a large doily from A tatting treasure chest. This is made up of lots of old patterns and written up the long way. It is taking some understanding and some of the picture's are poor. I'm doing it in lizbeth 40 thread Rainbow taffy. Love size 40 thread to work with.Will take photo tomorrow of both projects and post.

Well I have joined Jane's tat it and see. Her brain cell 3# works over time at the most busy time of year the run up to Christmas. Then after Christmas it's full speed ahead running the patterns and up loading the picture's, comment's and guesses of what it is. Not bad for as she calls herself an old git. I just want you to know how much I'm sure everyone is appreciates you for all your hard work. OH WHAT IS IT.

Christmas Books

My darling daughter Francesca bought me the three Martha Ess book's that I have been wanting for ages. What I have in mind is to do the alphabet similar to Singing tatters postcards but as a frieze or hanging. Have already made a start.

Now the other two books were bought by my brother Richard who knows nothing about tatting other than I do it. What a surprise I had when opening the present. I jumped for joy a Mary Konior book, one I did not have, that makes three of hers, one to go. The other book was one I had looked at but never bought. So have my work cut out for me as I want to tat and tat and tat. Can see not much H/W being done in the near future.Sorry Ken and Justin.

Have loved playing with Picots as you can see.

CLASIENA

In the line of my job as a carer, I met a lady called Clasiena (80) who was Dutch, she had a sister who tatted but she had never tryed ,she sewed and embroidered lots of things over many years. We both liked to show each other what we had made. One thing that Clasiena make years ago as a brownie were teasel hedgehogs. I thought why not give it a go, so out I went and collected lots of teasels. Then out came the tat patterns and a bride was born. Clasiena loved her. Yesterday I found out Clasiena had lost her battle with bowel cancer. So I decided to show what I made in Honor of her. God rest Clasiena.

Happy New Year. Yesterday over on Tat's Heaven Sally was asking if any one had done Pam Palmers 12 days of Christmas patterns here is what I did approx 5 years ago they have seen better days. I used size 80 thread as I knew what I wanted them for. Yes there is a tassel on the end made from the cord.

My sister-in-law loves owls and I have tatted many for her over the years. I wanted to add one to her Christmas present and could not find a new pattern. I had been looking at Jane's penguins and found a body just needed a head, Dianna's zoo book marks had a owl i had done but i changed the pattern slightly and wow i had a penowl hope you like him/her. (sorry picture not good camera playing up.)

Look what i get up to when not tatting. This was made for my sister i changed the pattern.(top) Oh i do enjoy whacky new patterns. This pattern is very fiddley lots of bits to it. A good sewing machine would help, but mines aprox 30 years old, just had it serviced. Still love the tree.

CHRISTMAS HAS COME TO MY HOUSE

Well as you can see, I've been working on Christmas. My friend Karen showed me a magazine and i found the pattern for the Christmas tree and i fell in love, this is a adapt of the pattern for my sister.You will have to call back in a weeks time to see the main one. It is very fiddly by the why its a advent calender.
I have also been tatting the snowman our good friend Jane has on her page.its lovely to tat.Sorry pics in wrong order

Karen was going to tat the dragon wing doily but came across a bell within it eg, she did four repeats and hung a gong sorry picture does not do it justice.

Have been doing a bit of beading. At our tatting afternoon we did a workshop. Jane showed some of the moves and we had to do the rest. Not bad for the first attempt. Sorry pictures a bit funny but its very sparkly.

Well Halloween party over,took my friend FRED, I did enjoy creating him and his home.Used him on my hat. He has wire in his legs to make him stand up. Just a pity i could not drink, I was on call at work.

WEDDING DRESS

Vibrant Kate found a novel way to display her wedding dress by sitting on the display table and tatting.Note the tatted hem. She is a member of Charnwood Tatters who held there tatting day on October 15th . Tatting and Design supply team Mike and Lynn were there to take are money of us with there wonderful threads. David Pepper was selling wonderful wooden boxes and bowls with tatting in the lids. Everyone had a great time Chatting and Tatting.

QUILTS WITH TATTING

On Saturday it will be Charnwood Tatting Day every year members do a project for display. This year we decided to make lap quilts one member supplied the squares and stitched the motifs on. I made them up into the quilts. What do you think? lots of lovely tatting. The weather forecasters predict lots of snow so two lucky old people are going to enjoy these.

Well here's the other tatting i was talking about. It is meant to be tatted in one colour but with the shoe lace trick i did it in two colours. Altin Basak 50 was the thread and the patternis by Teiko Fujitofrom her book Tatted Artistry. I did it for the display at Charnwood Tat day on 16 October. Love this book many beautiful patterns.

Bo Peep by Mary Konior worked in lizbeth size 40. Each repeat takes 30mins, 40repeats =20hrs, corners take 1hour, 4 corners= 4hrs, pinning out 2hrs, sewing onto hankie1 1/2, total time =27hrs. I have made this for a friend who is going to be mother of the groom early next year.

Will have another bit to show tomorrow, but may get delayed as weather is fantastic so hubby is taking me to the zoo tomorrow.

ARCHES

This is what i have tatted over the last week. I love the colors it's Lizbeth size 20. The pattern is called ARCHES by Marilee Rockley. My Arches arn't as good as hers.While tating it was very twisted but pining out sorted it.
I'm also tatting a hankie edging just one corner and 6 repeats to go.
At charnwood tatting today we had a workshop on some bead work what a fiddly thing it is, if and when i Finnish will give you a look.
Well it's Saturday eve and nothing on TV so will have to start a new pattern from TATTED ARTISTRY a book I've just got back after several months.

This is what i have been working on. It's out of the book The Tatters Treasure Chest. Starlight Doily made with Elizbeth 40 ocean. It has 6 rounds, I enjoyed the tatting but the pinning out was hell as it was very twisted, I've had it under a few boxes of jigsaw to weigh it down even after pinning out.

I've been badgered to return. I will not be able to blog daily but will try at least once a week.
What have i done recently? Jane's Fandango edging I've turn into a cross, have a look at her site.(sorry don't know how to do links).

Yesterday i got out a book i bought last year, ALTERNATE THREADS by the Shuttle Brothers. At first it look hard but once i understood what was happening i did a couple of there patterns.I can see that it can change patterns we have been tatting for years into something new.That's the plan for today!!

DOG QUILT

I was asked by a friend to do a puppy quilt for her friend. I gave her a couple of puppy pictures but she was not OK with them, came back with this one. I had to enlarge it a lot . It is hand sewn. using blanket stitch.

BASKETS

Charnwood tatting day is 16 October. We have a project table ,this year it's tatted baskets, here are a couple I've done. One is the seahorse dragon doily pattern, but I've missed one section out to create a basket, the other is Jane's wedding favour basket. Both are worked with Lizbeth thread one 20 and one 10. I have just started using Lizbeth thread and love working with it, also love that if you do happen to do a ring wrong its easy to undo, much better than Altin basak. Think it's a bit more silkier and so slides more.
